Akiane follow up

Last night I attended the Akiane (Ak-ee-on-a) exhibit. This little girl is more amazing that I originally thought. Besides being ridiculously talented there is also meaning behind every one of her paintings.

From her website I had read that when she was 4 she saw God and God taught her how to paint. I thought that was a little strange, but after seeing the paintings and reading her interpretations of them it seems a little more possible. The meanings behind the paintings are incredible.

For example this painting The Bears she painted when she was 9 years old. This is what she says about it.
"This painting is an allegory about five groups of human beings responding differently to God. When the light representing God shines fom above, only three groups notice it. One group runs away from it, even risking life. the next gets very angry as it roars, and the third has their heads raised in awe, wonder, and joy. So the moral of this painting is this : Don't run away from the light, don't be angry at the light, don't fight or think only of yourself-otherwise you will miss the light completely. Look up to truth to live, and you will find peace and joy."

Pretty amazing for a 9 year old.

In addition to her paintings, 2 books, speaking 4 languages, she also is a self taught pianist and has started composing. And they say that she has friends and lives a somewhat normal childhood.
